This timely and culturally relevant study examines the perceptions and behaviors of African American students and how they practice and use their Christian Spirituality in school and other life choices. The study was conducted in an urban, impoverished, at risk American city. The questions under investigation include: How is Christian Spirituality mani-fested in the education of African American students? Do these students pray, read the bible, or talk about church in school? How do students and parents make meaning of Christian Spiritual practices in their learning environment? Through interviews, observations, and artifacts the students express the importance and their understanding of Christian Spirituality and how this particular religious experience relates to their education and life choices.
