The evolution of libraries has been influenced by constant changes due to information technology developments in recent years aiming to preserve the attractiveness of the medium book, which is threatened by an increasing number of electronic resources on the Internet. It makes libraries more attractive to patrons and changes administrative processes signi-ficantly. Several case studies, surveys and research projects are analyzed to investigate this subject from a scientific as well as from a practical point of view.
