This book presents various boundary element foundations, implementations and the results of linear and geometrically nonlinear problems of thin plates loaded in their own plane. It serves as a detailed introduction to the subject as well as a survey and exploration of the current techniques in the field. Although some knowledge of the boundary elements would be useful, the first four chapters of the book contain a presentation of the basic principles of the method as well as a detailed description of plate stability theory. Studies of accuracy versus computer requirements, applications of dual-reciprocity techniques based on Fourier series and incremental analyses of the nonlinear problem are of particular interest where comparison is made to experimental and finite element results.
