Sabina Stelzig-Willutzki untersucht den Einfluss sozialer Beziehungen auf die eigenstandige Migration von Frauen am Beispiel von Brasilianerinnen in Deutschland. Sowohl die Bedeutung der Kontakte zu anderen brasilianischen Migranten und Migrantinnen, als auch die Kontakte zu Personen und (binationalen) Netzwerken im Zielland der Migration werden analysiert. Die Autorin zeigt, dass soziale Beziehungen Migrationsverlaufe nicht nur durch Informationen und instrumentelle Hilfen beeinflussen konnen, sondern auch durch Prozesse ethnischer Stereotypisierungen.
