Das Sonderheft folgt der Grundannahme, dass soziologische Theorieansatze niemals fur sich allein stehen, sondern ihre Formulierung meist in kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit alternativen Forschungsprogrammen finden. Insofern lebt die Soziologie von Kontroversen, diese pragen ihre spezifische Gestalt. Ziel dieses Sonderheftes ist es, eine Auswahl zeitgenoessischer soziologischer Theorie zu prasentieren sowie auch den sie pragenden Debatten einen Raum zu bieten mit dem Ziel, die kunftige Entwicklung in fruchtbarer Weise zu beeinflussen.
