Diese und andere empirische Phanomene der Selbstmordforschung - z. B. auch die weltweite Zunahme der Selbstmorde von Frauen - lassen sich auf der Grundlage einer mehrstufigen motivationstheoretischen Handlungstheorie erklaren.
