English summary: The Democratic Women’s League of Germany (DFD) was- though today almost forgotten- one of the numerically largest mass organization of the DDR. On the basis of broad investigation of the records the increasing dominance of the SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany) over this organization is illuminated, which into the middle of the 1950’s with the approval of the DFD-functionaries, the mid and lower levels of the league were expanded. At the center, however, stood the squad work of the organization and the closely related problems such as the squad structure of the body of functionaries and career possibilities. The view offered here examines the development of the DDR by using the example of the DFD: that the long standing problem of the squad was manifest since the end of the 1960s and facilitated an increasing ossification of the personnel structure. The immobility that resulted from this incrustation affected the party, state and social organization at end in the 1980’s and substantially contributed to the decline of the DDR in the fall of 1989.
German description: Der Demokratische Frauenbund Deutschlands (DFD) war - heute fast vergessen - eine der zahlenmassig grossten Massenorganisationen der DDR. Auf der Basis breiter Akteneinsicht wird die zunehmende Dominanz der SED ueber diese Organisation beleuchtet, die bis Mitte der 1950er Jahre mit Zustimmung der DFD-Funktionarinnen auch auf die mittleren und unteren Ebenen des Bundes ausgeweitet wurde. Im Mittelpunkt stehen jedoch die Kaderarbeit der Organisation und die damit verbundenen Probleme sowie die Kaderstrukturen des Funktionarskorps und die Karrieremoglichkeiten.Der hier gebotene Blick auf die Entwicklung der DDR verdeutlicht am Beispiel des DFD, dass sich bereits lange bestehende Kaderprobleme seit dem Ende der 1960er Jahre manifestierten und eine zunehmende Verkrustung der Personalstrukturen beguenstigten. Die hieraus resultierende personelle Unbeweglichkeit, die Partei, Staat und gesellschaftliche Organisationen am Ende der 1980er Jahre bestimmte, trug erheblich zum Untergang der DDR im Herbst 1989 bei.
