Die Bedeutung Stefan Georges (1868-1933) fur die Geschichte der modernen deutschen Lyrik ist unstrittig. Dennoch hat sich die Forschung bislang vor allem auf das Werk der ersten Werkphase bis zum Siebenten Ring konzentriert; das Werk der zweiten Werkphase aber ist nur zum Teil durch intensive Interpretationen bereits erschlossen. In dieser spateren Werkphase verbinden sich auf eine herausfordernde Weise die thematischen Komplexe Sexualitat, Religion, Poetologie und Politik. Der vorliegende Sammelband dokumentiert die Beitrage zum Stefan-George-Kolloquium, das im Dezember 1998 in Bingen am Rhein stattgefunden hat.
