In der Reihe der seit 1971 stattfindenden Kolloquien zur Maschinellen Verarbeitung altdeutscher Texte beschaftigte sich das 5. Internationale Kolloquium, das im Marz 1997 in Wurzburg stattfand, schwerpunktmassig mit dem Einsatz neuer Medien, mit Corpusfragen im Bereich altdeutscher Texte und Problemen der Lexikographie historischer Sprachstufen. Daneben wurden organisatorische Grundsatzfragen, Kodierungskonzepte wie das der Text Encoding Initiative und Detailloesungen aus dem Problemfeld der Textdatenverarbeitung diskutiert. Die wesentlichen Referate sind in dem Tagungsband zusammengefasst.
