The catalogue shows select works by Mary Bauermeister (*1934) from 1958 to the present. In the interim, she has come to be regarded as one of the central German postwar artists. By the beginning of the 1960s at the latest, the co-founder of the FLUXUS movement established herself as an international artist with her move to New York and through purchases of her works by renowned museums.

Among her works are large-scale installations, such as Howevercall (1964), her signature stone swirls as well as backlit cloths and patchwork tableaux in the tradition of the Arte Povera movement. Concerts with experimental music, exhibitions and performances were organized in her Cologne studio, which soon became a meeting place for artists, such as Nam June Paik, John Cage and Gunther Uecker.
