Nach meiner aufreibenden Flucht aus Freyburg erreiche ich im Fruhjahr 1633 Augsburg. In der von Schweden besetzten Stadt scheint es keinen Platz fur mich zu geben - bis ein spanischer Gelehrter mich in seine Dienste nimmt. Mit seiner Hilfe will ich nicht nur ein ehrbarer Mann werden, sondern auch Ruhe in mein aufgewuhltes Gemut bringen. Ich wahne mich auf einem guten Weg, aber dann fuhrt mein Vorbild mich an einen Abgrund und zeigt mir den dunkelsten Ort meiner Seele.
