Literatur Und Geschichte 1788-1988: Symposiums : Papers

-A Symposium was held at the University of Melbourne in 1988 to commemorate Australia’s Bicentenary at which eminent scholars from Germany and Australia were in attendance. Their contributions embrace two hundred years of German literary history from the French Revolution to the post-modern period of the present day. The notion of history is the starting point for their deliberations. Traditional authors such as Goethe, Schiller, Jean Paul, Kleist, Fontane, Thomas Mann and Feuchtwanger are treated alongside the work and the reception of German speaking writers, both past and present, in Australia.
