Fur die Aufnahme von divalenten Kationen in Hefezellen besteht ein spezifischer, stoffwechselabhangiger Transport. Neben Sattigungs- kinetik und Kompetition von Ionenpaaren zeigt der Transport Abhangigkeit von ATP. Das ATP wird aus dem Garungsstoffwechsel bereitgestellt. In die Hefezellen transportierte Nickel-Ionen hemmen die Alkoholdehydrogenase.
