Text in German. During his 34-year career at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO), Hans Seidel (1922-2015), including 18 years as scientific director and later as director of the IHS, not only analyzed Austrian economic policy, but also as an advisor to many governments and as a Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance intensively involved. In this volume he deals with the Kreisky period, probably the most interesting period of Austrian economic policy. Combining personal experience with a broad knowledge of literature and archival work, Seidel shows how the challenge of two serious oil crises could be mastered better than abroad. In addition to the proven social partnership, the newly developed concepts of hard currency policy and Austro-Keynesianism made a particular contribution.
