Text in German. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of its founding in 1815 as k. k. polytechnical institute the Vienna University of Technology presents itself as a modern research university. Its eight faculties each present the breadth of their research and teaching offerings in one volume. Outstanding results and projects from the current research focuses exemplify how diverse the Vienna University of Technology is in the field of natural and technical sciences, architecture and spatial planning new scientific knowledge and contributes to the solution of problems in technology, economy and society. The history of the Vienna University of Technology since the beginning of the 20th century and its development from a technical university mainly focused on engineering education to a research university, the development of individual institutions such as the student body and the university library as well as aspects of art and culture in the environment of the Vienna University of Technology are the contents of supplementary volumes.
