Bergung von Kulturgut im Nationalsozialismus: Mythen - Hintergrunde - Auswirkungen
Rescue of art and cultural property as a security measure against war damage or to protect against access by Allied troops, as was carried out in the Second World War, has hardly been the focus of research to date. Works of art, cultural assets such as library holdings from state museums and institutions as well as collections confiscated or seized by the National Socialists were brought to salvage locations such as tunnels, castles and pens. In the context of provenance research, the topic of salvage, recovery and return has moved more into focus in recent years. The anthology brings together articles on the topic from Austria, Germany and France.
