Leopold Forstner (1878–1936): Ein Materialkunstler im Umkreis der Wiener Secession

Graphic artist, designer, mosaic and glass artist, designer of monuments, funerary art, interior design. Leopold Forstner (1878-1936) was a master of his discipline. He reinterpreted mosaic and glass art and brought it to a renaissance. Forstner was a universal artist who combined the creativity of an artist and the perfection of an artisan in one person. As a painter and graphic artist he would have been one of many, as a mosaic, glass and material artist he was a visionary. His talent for merging design and implementation and thinking in terms of material earned him many commissions from well-known artists and architects, such as Gustav Klimt, Kolo Moser, Otto Wagner and Josef Hoffmann. The book looks at the stages in his life, at the projects and milestones in the work of this artist who never tired of reinventing himself again and again.
