Prominent among the works originally published in the literary journal Teutschen Merkur and presented here is Wieland s last great verse narrative Clelia and Sinibald, which represents the culmination of his efforts at a comic epic. In addition, Volume 18.1 presents all of Wieland s other works from 1783 to 1786, including his reports on the spectacular feats of the Montgolfier brothers in the Art of Flying.
