Von den wenigen antiken Zeugnissen zum Vulgarlateinischen findet sich wiederum nur eine geringe Zahl auf originalen Schrifttragern. Einige davon werden in dem vorliegenden Band vorgestellt, jeweils zusammen mit Bibliographie, Edition, UEbersetzung, Nachzeichnung des Schriftbestandes sowie einem ausfuhrlichen sprachlichen Kommentar. Die Sammlung enthalt vier Nummern mit Briefen (ChLA 43, 1241c; Tab. Vindol. 2, 310; P. Mich. 8, 471; O. Bu Njem 76-79), eine Soldatenliste (SB 22, 15638), funf pompejanische Graffiti, zwei Inschriften aus dem Rheinland (CIL 13, 7645; Gauthier Nr. 45), drei zweisprachige Dokumente (SB 3, 6304; P. Amh. 2, 26; Folium Parisinum) und den Anfang der Appendix Probi.
