During a family trip, we decided to go to Okinawa. On one hand because it is the cradle of karate (I am a karate practitioner), on the other hand because it is a place at the crossroads of Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese cultures.Once there, we discovered that there was indeed a strong anchoring in karate and multiculturalism, but also an art of living specific to Okinawa, an art of living that exudes happiness. For tourists visiting Asia, travel agencies often offer only two days of Okinawa sightseeing. For our part, we wanted to spend several consecutive weeks there, to live as much as possible in the company of Okinawans, to immerse ourselves and understand things. We thus discovered that Okinawa has a particular history, has secrets and a philosophy of life that is undoubtedly unique in the world. I then wanted to share this experience with this book written mainly on site during our stay (often early in the morning), supplemented by several studies and put into shape after our return.
