This edition presents the Rapport on French poetry from 1867 to 1900 that Mendes was commissioned to write. It also contains the Dictionnaire, in which he gathered press cuttings about each author. Despite the bias of Mendes’ survey, given his Parnassian commitment, his work contributed nevertheless to the writing of the history of poetry.
