Jean-Francois Champollion dit Champollion le Jeune, ne le 23 decembre 1790 a Figeac (Lot) et mort le 4 mars 1832 a Paris, est un egyptologue francais. Premier a dechiffrer les hieroglyphes, Champollion est considere comme le pere de l'egyptologie. Il disait de lui-meme: Je suis tout a l'Egypte, elle est tout pour moi . Dans ses Lettres ecrites d'Egypte et de Nubie en 1828 et 1829 Jean-Francois Champollion, l'egyptologue francais et decouvreur de la Pierre de Rosettes en 1799 nous livre un recit saisissant de ses expeditions scientifiques.
