French edition.

In his first adventure, Tintin is sent in assignment to Russia as a reporter of the Petit Vingtième. Right from the start, the GPU considers him as a menace and tries to get rid of him. In between his heroic adventure, Tintin finds the means to denounce the Soviet system in the pure spirit of Belgium at the time. He finally returns to Brussels, and is welcomed there as a hero.

First published in 1930 in a limited edition, this album was for a long time collector’s item which only the luckiest could put their hands on. Herge’s principal source of information for this adventure was the book Moscou sans voiles (Moscow without Veils), from which he adapted entire scenes, including the one about the election..
