The Argonauts were a band of heroes in Greek mythology who in the years before the Trojan War accompanied Jason to Colchis in his quest to find the Golden Fleece. Their name comes from their ship, Argo.

The familiar ground makes excellent going even for those who know it best, for Dr Rouse has his own way of dealing with the stories. Boys and girls of 11 to 13 years of age could hardly find a better introduction to the classical legends.
