Morgan Quinn is an only child and navy brat who grew up in Japan. Her Irish father is a naval officer and her Japanese mother is a doctor. Morgan went to International School in Tokyo and in her early school years is often bullied. Her father teaches her the importance of being physically fit and self-confident. As a result Morgan becomes a very accomplished competitive swimmer and well-versed in the martial art of Judo. Once she gains more confidence and more able to defend herself, the bullying stops.

When her father retires from the Navy they moved to Eberdeen, California. The town of Eberdeen is just South of San Francisco near the Pacific Ocean. Morgan is enrolled in grade 12 at the local High School.

Just before the school year begins Morgan comes across the news of a school shooting in a small town in the American Midwest. When she researches the topic she finds that school bullying and social disconnection are major causes of school shootings.

Seeing others bullied has always bothered her since she was bullied herself and shortly after she begins the school year in Eberdeen High Morgan, along with some new friends, create a club called the Nomad Club. The main purpose of the club is to stop bullying in her new school and to give those who are bullied and socially disconnected a place where they can find acceptance without judgement. Everyone is welcome regardless of race, color, age, grade, gender, or lifestyle preferences.

This is the story of what happens when the Nomad Club is formed.
