"Paris 1984 - The Drifter" is an adventurous travel account, as experienced by a nineteen-year-old German high school graduate in 1984 Paris.
Carielle and her fellow student Aubrey, two unlike friends, embark on this trip together after graduating from high school in July of 1984. From the start, their holidays are clouded by an earlier unanticipated incident during the time of graduation. It marks the turning point in their friendship and keeps popping to the surface of Carielle's mind throughout their visit to the capital of France.
An overnight train ride takes Carielle and Aubrey from Brunswick in Germany through Belgium to Paris in France. Upon arrival in Paris, they run into their first obstacle, an overbooked youth hostel.
In the entrance hall, they happen to meet the drifter, as Aubrey later calls him, a mysterious man by the name of Rudi who appears out of nowhere to be of instant assistance to them. By putting forward an acceptable answer to their dilemma, he saves the girls' stay in Paris. The hotel he takes them to is an outdated, unappealing accommodation where unforeseen circumstances may prolong their stay in Paris...
Will Carielle and Aubrey's friendship survive such a tumultuous adventure?
