Since the decision by the United States Supreme Court, which declared same-sex marriage legal, there has been a more intensive
bombardment of gays and issues related to their rights within the public debate. Emotionally, the Court’s decision did little to extinguish
the flames of the firestorm ignited by the Stonewall Uprising in New York City in 1969.
Those of us who … through no fault of our own … have been ridiculed, shunned, and even told we were unwanted in our home
churches, became incognito believers in exile. We have had no choice regarding our sexual identity. We were born gay. Even Jesus recognized this biological phenomenon. He declared to his disciples that ‘born eunuchs’ were not attracted to females and it would be better not to marry them (Matthew. 19:12). In the history of the United States, it was only during slavery and the Civil Rights Movement that one minority of our population has been so targeted like homosexuals have been targeted recently.
