Chandra is used to getting what she wants. Right now she needs a temporary fiance and the nomadic magician, TJ, fits the bill.

For the sake of his father's health TJ is ready to put down roots, even though he has doubts about partnering with Chandra to turn an unused warehouse into a live theater. When he meets her grandfather, the warehouse's owner, he is aghast to hear her lie to the old man, stating the two of them are betrothed. What does the spoiled heiress really want?

Rather than denounce her outright, he plays along to see what other surprises she has up her sleeve. It turns out she wants to be spared her grandfather's matchmaking, while pursuing a career as an actress. As the theater nears completion, it becomes obvious someone in town does not want them to succeed; going to great lengths to discredit TJ, including planting stolen jewelry among his belongings. Chandra refuses to let anything stand in their way, until the couple are kidnapped and their feelings for each other take an unexpected turn.
