This is a piano book for parents with young children. You should experience it together. Like the Suzuki method, there is a great emphasis on listening. However, in this book, theory is taught alongside listening. but in a very simple straightforward way. Most children don’t like learning theory, but they also don’t like straying blindly into a chaos where nothing makes sense. This book bridges the gap. I teach just enough theory, and teach it gently enough, that your child should feel comfortable with written music in a few weeks. I have chosen some of the favorite music of all time, from Jingle Bells and Hush Little Baby to Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory, Mozart’s Nachtmusik, and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. All the pieces have fingering in both the right and left hands. This should help considerably in learning the pieces. I have not included a CD of the pieces with the book. However, if you email me your email address at [email protected], I will forward you an audio copy of the pieces.
