It's a Saturday and there is no school. The tone is the sixties. As he sometimes does, Dad invites his young daughter to spend the day with him at the garage he owns in Marpole, a neighbourhood of Vancouver. They arrive plenty early. The daughter helps with the opening of the garage and throughout the day there are chores to be done. She greets customers and regulars, looks after the cash register, takes care of the little shop, cleans up, and learns mechanics along the way. Dad and daughter have coffee, lunch and share a beautiful luminous day together. A regular customer tells her about elves in these parts. She is then wary of the situation but is not sure she believes in elves. Nancy Hundal recollects from her own experience a day spent with her father, cars and friendly customers. The relationship between the daughter and her father is patient and sweet.
