The intent of poetry is to say something beautifully so that your words not only conjure emotions and feelings but also the images and symbolism itself. My intent is to communicate that empathy, compassion, and charity are not forgotten; that integrity, loyalty, and truth are not forsaken; and that real love is not extinct for those who would rather a desolate heart for the loss of love than a destitute life bereft of ever knowing. Life ain’t no crystal stair. It was not my intent when creating these works to do so for mass consumption. However, after sharing with several family members and close lifelong friends, I was convinced by the pleasure they appeared to derive and with their persistent urging. Deep calleth unto deep at the sounds of thy waterspouts (Psalm 42:7).
