Nancy had the uneasy feeling that Reggie was drifting away from her. Everyone thought she had made the perfect match three yeas ago. She was teacher in a college prep high school in her small home town in Connecticut. Her husband worked for his father’s financial planning company. They owned a beautiful house, had many friends, and her parents adored Reggie. On spring break, while on a family trip to Nancy’s grandmother’s beachfront condo in Palm Beach, Florida, Nancy asked her mother for advice. She was told that she should waste no time in setting up some counseling sessions as soon as she got home.. Nancy said she would. While in Palm Beach, her sister and she attended a wedding of one of their friends, and she ran into a young man with whom she had a teenage romance seven years ago. Her sister had warned her then that her father would never approve of this boy. He was certainly good looking, hardworking, ambitious, and charming, but came from a very poor emigrant family. Now he was evidently pretty successful and owner of his own beachfront condo that he was anxious to show off. The attraction was still there, and although she was feeling particularly vulnerable, Nancy assured herself that she could maturely handle any advances he might make. She accepted his invitation. When she got back to Connecticut, she and her husband attended several counseling sessions, which seemed to rekindle her husband’s lost passion. But finally, he had to admit his secret. Now, three months later, Nancy was back at her grandmother’s condo with her divorce papers in hand. Her school term was over and she was anxious to get away from everybody. She had her own secret she hadn’t revealed to anyone. Decisions had to be made soon, and the rest of her life hung in the balance.
