One of my favorite words in the Bible is ponder. I love the fact that Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19). The Psalmist also pondered and calls us to ponder (Psalm 64:9, 111:2, 119:95). Ponder means to think about something deliberately, carefully, to engage in contemplation. That pretty much defines how I come to God’s Word and how I think about life. I ponder. Then one year at Christmas I realized that pondering often led me to wonder, sometimes questioning (I wonder how or why), sometimes in astonishment or amazement, with curiosity, or surprise (the Wow factor). Thus, the title of this book. So much of life, so much of God, so much of God’s Word has led me to ponder, to wonder in all the definitions of that word. May these thoughts from my ponderings lead you to Ponder in Wonder.
