Through him, the characters in the story will learn firsthand how to live a life that is good, acceptable, and pleasing to God. The characters and family will forever change, and the light of Jesus will eventually shine through each of them. By example, through their love, joy, and kindness, they will show others Jesus’s perfect love. If situations or circumstances cause the characters to wander, Poppy will be there, teaching and reminding them of God’s Word.
Poppy characterizes Balaam’s talking donkey from the biblical book of Numbers chapter 22. A portion of chapter 22 is included at the back of the storybook.
The St. James family had been struggling with their Christian faith and the ability to live it trusting in God’s love. They were caught up in daily tasks and did not have time to visit with Jesus. This day would prove to be especially difficult. Circumstances begin to change because of a young boy’s prayer.
This storybook can be read by children ages nine to twelve but can also be read to and understood by a younger audience.
