The Ballad of Dani and Eli

Dani’s met two new friends this summer: bad boy Eli, and a big black bear. She doesn’t know which one is more dangerous…. Dani Moser is a fifteen-year-old girl who dreams of being a blues guitarist and singer like her hero, Janis Joplin. When her dad takes Dani and her annoying little brother to his hometown for the summer-a tiny little town in the Arkansas Ozarks-she thinks she’s in for the most boring summer of her life.

She didn’t expect she would meet a small-town bad boy named Eli, and join his bluegrass band. She didn’t expect she’d get in so much trouble that her dad would kick her out and she’d have to go stay with her great aunt. And she definitely didn’t expect she’d meet a bear that she shares a mystical connection with, and that gives her strange new abilities.

Eli’s a student of Indian rituals and magic, and when he discovers Dani’s bear connection, he believes he can use that power to cure his sick dad. Only, he needs a blood sacrifice, and Dani’s little brother is the perfect victim.

Now Dani has to decide between the bad boy she’s fallen for and her little brother. It’s an easy choice…isn’t it?
