The Myers Flat News by Carol Ruth Silver
Have you ever dreamed of escaping to a small town tucked away in the countryside or forested mountains? The Myers Flat News by Carol Ruth Silver brings that fantasy to life through a vibrant collection of stories chronicling the everyday happenings in Myers Flat, California. Spanning pivotal years that witnessed significant events-such as 9/11, the start of the U.S. war in Afghanistan, and the decline of the logging industry in Northern California-this book captures both the global and local realities of life during that era.
Readers will enjoy colorful tales of quirky characters, including Sammy the Dog and the mischievous Boys in the Bar, while learning how the town grappled with changes like enforcing a smoking ban (more or less) in its only saloon. Offering a unique, homespun perspective, The Myers Flat News preserves the spirit of a close-knit community living out their dreams, one story at a time, as told through the only newspaper ever published in this charming town.
