The narrator is Sugar, a southern mutt rescued from an animal shelter. Her unique voice allows one to hit the ground running, to see the world and all those involved from a four-legged perspective. One night while Sugar is visiting her best friend, a Collie named Sassy and a cat named Gizmo, the kitty accidently boots a computer with Skype that leads to a conversation with an unknown cousin, a giant Schnauzer in Germany, thus beginning a cultural exchange and great friendships.
Think Br'er Rabbit meets Huckleberry Finn and you have The Sweetness of Sugar.
ROGER GREENWOOD
Born in South Dakota, he was ten months old when he began the nomadic life of a military brat. After eighteen years and as many moves that spanned from Asia to the United Sates and to Europe a couple of times, the road became embedded in his DNA.
After college on the west coast he traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, for a time and then back again to California for a spell on his way to Hawaii, which became his home port after he joined the Merchant Marines. After several years sailing the Pacific, he ended up once again in California before going on to Miami, Florida for a stay.
He has since traveled a good deal but now finds himself married and living on the Panhandle in Florida for the past twenty-four years with a pup and a kitty.
