This is the story of a poor young Mexican girl from a large family who, from a very young age, dreamed of escaping the hard work in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley and someday becoming a registered nurse. She shares the trials and tribulations she faced, along with the many barriers placed in her way on her path to success. Coming from meager beginnings, she overcame verbal, physical, emotional, and even sexual abuse as she struggled to find her way. Holding on tight to her dream, she did not let anyone dissuade her from her goal.
