Because Claudette's boss is involved with the FIRM, Claudette becomes aware that Evo Kaplan works for the notorious Intergalactic FIRM. She then must come to terms with whether or not to continue this relationship. There is gut-wrenching sorrow in this book and eventual redemption. It defines how fragile love is for an Intergalactic Spy.
