This pulpy novel was written by Harry Reasoner -- yes, the famed, erudite TV newsman -- when he was just 22 years old and was published in 1946, when he left the army. The Palm Beach Post called it an "outstandingly good piece of work that foreshadows a real literary future" Alas, it was to be his first and only novel, forgotten among his many journalistic accomplishments.
