Preface I want my poetry to . . .
Why do we write? . . . What do you want your poetry to do?
Back in 2012, on Jill Delbridge's poetry radio show, The Artists Lounge, we, the poetry community were challenged by poet/activist Monte Smith to examine our purpose as poets. Our purpose for writing our verse is perhaps a very personal reaction of who we are, but truth be told, we have voices that can be at times lent to effectuate change for the better by raising the consciousness of the heart of humanity.
We CAN move mountains if we but try.
We can stimulate the hearts, minds and spirits of others through our poetic evocations .... what do you want your poetry to do?
In the following pages, you the reader will have an opportunity to peek behind the veil and perhaps arrive at an understanding of why, we poets do what we do. I hope you enjoy.
