DAN BREAU earned his BA in Psychology at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, and an MA in English from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. As an undergraduate, he was an editor of Monmouth Review, an award-winning journal devoted to publishing creative and experimental writing of students, faculty and alumni. He has worked as a writer and editor for several magazines and in advertising and marketing for clients that read like a who's who of major U.S. corporations. Along the way, he wrote and published poetry and was co-author of Direct Mail for Dummies. In many ways, Clumpety-Clump learns to TipToe is a true story, and the truth of it is one that parents and grandparents will recognize.CLARK CARROLL is an award-winning artist who studied philosophy, painting and art history at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and earned a BFA degree in 1972. He has worked in graphics first and foremost as an illustrator, then as an art director, print production manager and computer graphics operator. His traditionally rendered fine art paintings favor realistic and semi-abstract interpretations of landscapes, seascapes and other subjects chosen, both in the United States and its surrounding areas, building drama with the use of light, which he considers key to our understanding. His art reflects hints of a variety of styles, depicting places seen in quiet moments, away from the everyday confusion of life, or conversely, in the middle of confusion. The illustrations in Clumpety-Clump Learns to Tiptoe represent Clark's use of whimsical line style with the indication of color in a "crayon-like feel," which is user friendly to children who are, above all, the Joy of the World.
