The Republic of South Viet Nam is on the other side of the world from Ashton, Rhode Island, the sleepy mill village that is his home. He leaves home at 18, ready to take on the world, and returns two years later, a decorated by severely wounded soldier. Unlike his former self he must now struggle to meet not only society's demands but his own, fighting to find out

who or what he has become, inside and out.
