A Dragon in the Rough

When the kingdom of Calor threatens Gale with war unless Princess Katheryn agrees to marry Prince Graham, Katheryn is compelled to comply against her will. She soon discovers she's not alone in her reservations about the marriage. When someone attempts to assassinate her and the prince, Katheryn is forced to hone her shape-shifting skills beyond what anyone thought possible to survive the trip. Living in Calor isn't much easier. Their patriarchal society denies women the power and voice to make the differences Katheryn had hoped to make there. Soon her only friend is Graham's younger brother Gareth, who realizes how dangerous his father is and defies the king every chance he gets. He's the only one in Calor who doesn't expect her to shine quietly like a diamond when she's more like a dragon in the rough. If Katheryn doesn't tame her wilder impulses and solidify her marriage with Graham her kingdom could be destroyed, but to do that she would have to deny her feelings for Gareth and everything she stands for. How can she possibly choose between her duty and her heart?
