The Green House is the story of several residents of a rooming house in Detroit, how they got to know one another, and how they impacted each other's lives. And oh-the story is made more interesting because at least one of the inhabitants in the boarding house may turn out to be a ghost.

At the outset of the twentieth century, demand for a new mode of transportation turned Detroit, Michigan, into a mecca for the production of automobiles. Workers moved to Motown from the Deep South lured by high wages in an expanding industry. Others chose to live in this thriving city in response to their own unique needs. Many of these newcomers came by themselves and needed low-cost housing. Over the first quarter of the twentieth century, numerous apartments and boarding houses were constructed to respond to that need. The Green House was one of those boarding houses.

The setting for this story is the early 1960s during Detroit's manufacturing heyday. Its players are the residents who live in a three-story rooming house called The Green House.
