Science fiction writers conceptualize the possible forms of future science and technology and then envision the impacts of these future developments on human life. Science fiction writers talk about unknown worlds in their stories either in terms of time or space or both. Many a time, some elements of these imaginative worlds, created by science fiction writers, may turn out to be a reality one day. Yet, science fiction writers are neither soothsayers nor prophets, they only project probabilities.
Arvind Mishra was born in 1957 in Jaunpur district of Benaras region, India. He studied Fisheries Science at CIFE, Deemed University in Mumbai and completed his doctorate in Fish Genetics in 1982 from the University of Allahabad. A prolific popularizer of science, he has hosted numerous radio and TV shows, published more than 1500 popular science articles, published three SF collections in Hindi so far and edited the proceedings of the first ever national conference on science fiction in India. He has written around hundred sf stories in Hindi, the lingua franca of India which have appeared in many mainstream Indian magzines, science periodicals and sunday supplements of leading Hindi newspapers. His SF stories /reviews have been published in Romanian, French, Croatian, and German . He is a life member of Indian Science Writers Association and the founder secretary of Indian Science Fiction Writers Association(ISFWA)
