It has been designed to introduce young children to many of the pre-reading, readiness skills that are needed in order to learn to read. As the story develops readiness skills are strengthened through listening, focus, memory, rhyming and repetition modalities. The book includes a "Readiness Skills Guide" for parents and teachers. The Guide uses the story text as a teaching tool. Directions, techniques and suggestions are introduced and developed throughout.
