The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. I’ve spoken on this topic a number of times but I think for the first time in my life I finally understand the importance of absorbing this concept. I finally understand why it’s absolutely necessary for us to question our every conclusion. As the song writer says, I can see clearly now the rain is gone but my rain would be reign, R-E-I-G-N and by reign I mean the reign of ignorance that blinded me into thinking that because I’m an intellectual, my conclusions are valid and can never be baseless. Often times I say to my children, so long as you think yourself the victim you can never see what you’re doing wrong. I’m going to tweak that statement, now that my eyes are no longer wide shut, to say, as long as you think yourself the intellectual your level of ignorance will elude you…….
