Pursue your Original Goal at Whatever CostGenesis 29:21-28: Philippians 4:13 Jacob loved Rachel from the beginning, and he was prepared to do everything to get her. He would not allow any obstacle to stand in his way or block him from pursuing Rachel. Many people today are failing to pursue their dreams because of disappointments. Others are given substitutes. We are told that Jacob was promised by Laban that after working for 7 years he would receive Rachel as his bride but after the wedding night Jacob found out that he was given a substitute/Leah and not the desire of his heart Rachel. A substitute is not your first choice this is why in football you will see all the substitutes sitting on a bench, waiting for emergencies. Rachel was Jacob’s first choice, but he was given Leah a substitute. What would your reaction be like when the world gives you substitutes? Some of us have been diverted from our goals because of substitutes. Others have been contented by Leah a substitute, but i like Jacob’s attitude, ‘Leah is not my goal, I will pursue my Rachel.’ Friends in Christ, before you receive the desires of your heart sometimes life gives you a substitute or a disappointment. Life may give you what you don’t want. You might be a qualified teacher, nurse, Accountant, an Engineer, Lawyer, etc but life has given you something else/ a substitute or a Leah instead of your Rachel and you are now contented with that substitute. Heeeeeey! Never be contented with Leah, she is not your portion, but pursue your goal.
