In 1902, trains made travel off the farm accessible and familiar. It becameeasy to visit relatives and friends who had moved away. Still, the journeyscould be arduous with multiple stops and new places one hadn' t seen before.This family adventure starts in south central Wisconsin and travels to LakeSuperior. Margie Havey and her children, a seven-year-old son namedFrancis and a five-year-old daughter Margaret, boarded a train in her hometownof Lyndon Station, WI. They are traveling to Ashland, WI, to visitMargie' s sister Mary and her husband George Forsyth, leaving Margie' shusband Patrick behind to work the farm.
